Battlecats is a hip-hop group that was first founded in 1993. It was made up of b-boys/b-girls, poppers, emcees, graffiti artists, and a DJ. Their interests are education, competition, and performance. The crew members went their own ways, mostly pursuing whichever element of Hip Hop most appealed to them. It has now been reinstated with b-boys Daylight, Seqal, and J-Sun for educational and choreographic reasons.
B-Boy J-Sun:
B-boy J-Sun has been dancing for 20 years and teaching for 14 years.He is a member of Battlecats(MN), West Coast Rockers(CA), and Self X(IL).He puts traditional b-boying on stage and seeks to become the first professor of this discipline at the University of Minnesota. He has won numerous awards including the Momentum grant, and most recently has been invited to the 2008 Walker Choreographers' Evening. He is currently attending the University and has been accepted to the Program for Individualized Learning.
B-Boy Sequel is a 26 year old Minnesota native born in the city of Bloomington. Currently residing in Minneapolis he is a proud member of the world famous Self Xplanitory Crew and it's MN chapter The Battlecats.
B-Boy Sequel
Sequel has been B-Boyin' 10+ years as well as dedicating 8 years prior to martial arts training at National Karate Schools. During this time he earned the rank of second degree black belt and multiple 1st place and grand championship competition wins. His unique dance style has been seen in opening acts for Hip Hop's Black Eyed Peas, Naughty By Nature, Atmosphere and Brother Ali. He has also performed in sets with legendary artists such as DJ Grandmaster Flash and KRS ONE on multiple occasions. Sequel has many goals and aspirations pertaining to Hip Hop and B-Boyin' but none more important than simply continuing to dance.
